Determination Procedure

Caution
• When disconnecting the connector, verify that there is no looseness, damage, deformation, corrosion, or poor connection of the connector terminals.
• When inspecting the connector, touch it with a paper clip or similar thin pin without directly inserting a tester probe into the terminal.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) AND CONNECTOR C-32
• Switch the ignition off.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(US)])
• Disconnect the connector C-32.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 3.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the connector 2 which has body control module (BCM) terminals 2L and 2J.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L (wiring harness side) and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J (wiring harness side) and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the body control module (BCM) and connector C-32 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the body control module (BCM) because there is a short to ground in the body control module (BCM).

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT (LH) AND CONNECTOR C-32
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between front combination light (LH) terminal E and body ground
― Between front combination light (LH) terminal D and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 5.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT (LH) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the front combination light (LH) connector.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between front combination light (LH) terminal E (wiring harness side) and body ground
― Between front combination light (LH) terminal D (wiring harness side) and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the front combination light (LH) and connector C-32 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the front combination light (LH) because there is a short to ground in the front combination light (LH).

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-32 AND CONNECTOR C-33
• Disconnect the connector C-33.
• Connect the connector C-32.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connector C-32 and connector C-33 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT (RH) AND CONNECTOR C-33
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between front combination light (RH) terminal E and body ground
― Between front combination light (RH) terminal D and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 8.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT (RH) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the front combination light (RH) connector.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between front combination light (RH) terminal E (wiring harness side) and body ground
― Between front combination light (RH) terminal D (wiring harness side) and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the front combination light (RH) and connector C-33 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the front combination light (RH) because there is a short to ground in the front combination light (RH).

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-04 AND CONNECTOR C-33
• Disconnect the connector C-04.
• Connect the connector C-33.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connector C-04 and connector C-33 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT AND CONNECTOR C-04
• Disconnect the climate control unit connector.
• Connect the connector C-04.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connector C-04 and climate control unit because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between climate control unit terminal 1J and body ground
― Between climate control unit terminal 1L and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Replace the climate control unit because there is a short to ground in the climate control unit.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT AND ACTIVE DRIVING DISPLAY
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between active driving display terminal I and body ground
― Between active driving display terminal G and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 13.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN ACTIVE DRIVING DISPLAY FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the active driving display connector.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between active driving display terminal I (wiring harness side) and body ground
― Between active driving display terminal G (wiring harness side) and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the active driving display and climate control unit because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the active driving display because there is a short to ground in the active driving display.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT AND CONNECTOR C-40
• Disconnect the connector C-40.
• Connect the climate control unit connector.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connector C-40 and climate control unit because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN STEERING ANGLE SENSOR AND CONNECTOR C-40
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between steering angle sensor terminal B and body ground
― Between steering angle sensor terminal D and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 16.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN STEERING ANGLE SENSOR FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between steering angle sensor terminal B (wiring harness side) and body ground
― Between steering angle sensor terminal D (wiring harness side) and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the steering angle sensor and connector C-40 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the steering angle sensor because there is a short to ground in the steering angle sensor.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND CONNECTOR C-40
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between instrument cluster terminal AK and body ground
― Between instrument cluster terminal AM and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 18.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between instrument cluster terminal AK (wiring harness side) and body ground
― Between instrument cluster terminal AM (wiring harness side) and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the instrument cluster and connector C-40 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the instrument cluster because there is a short to ground in the instrument cluster.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-13 AND CONNECTOR C-40
• Disconnect the connector C-13.
• Connect the connector C-40.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connector C-13 and connector C-40 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-48 AND CONNECTOR C-13
• Disconnect the connector C-48.
• Connect the connector C-13.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connector C-48 and connector C-13 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side) terminal 1A and body ground
― Between door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side) terminal 1B and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 23.

• Disconnect the connector C-23.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side) terminal 1A and body ground
― Between door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side) terminal 1B and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connector C-48 and connector C-23 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN DOOR-ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT (PASSENGER’S SIDE) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side) connector.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side) terminal 1A (wiring harness side) and body ground
― Between door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side) terminal 1B (wiring harness side) and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side) and connector C-23 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side) because there is a short to ground in the door-electrical supply unit (passenger’s side).

INSPECT CAN LINE IN JB No.2 FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the connector C-49.
• Connect the connector C-48.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Replace the JB No.2 because there is a short to ground in the JB No.2.
No
Go to the next step.

• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between LF control unit terminal M and body ground
― Between LF control unit terminal P and body ground

No

• Disconnect the LF control unit connector.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between LF control unit terminal M (wiring harness side) and body ground
― Between LF control unit terminal P (wiring harness side) and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the LF control unit and connector C-49 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the LF control unit because there is a short to ground in the LF control unit.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN DASH-ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT AND CONNECTOR C-49
• Disconnect the dash-electrical supply unit connector.
• Connect the connector C-49.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2L and body ground
― Between body control module (BCM) terminal 2J and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the dash-electrical supply unit and connector C-49 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Go to the next step.

• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between dash-electrical supply unit terminal 1K and body ground

Yes
Replace the dash-electrical supply unit because there is a short to ground in the dash-electrical supply unit.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT CAN LINE IN SHIFT PANEL (INDICATOR) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the shift panel (indicator) connector.
• Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
― Between shift panel (indicator) terminal E (wiring harness side) and body ground
― Between shift panel (indicator) terminal F (wiring harness side) and body ground
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the dash-electrical supply unit and shift panel (indicator) because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No
Replace the shift panel (indicator) because there is a short to ground in the shift panel (indicator).
