Oil and Chemical Type

Warning

• Hot engines and engine oil can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it and the engine oil have cooled.

• A vehicle that is lifted but not securely supported on safety stands is dangerous. It can slip or fall, causing death or serious injury. Never work around or under a lifted vehicle if it is not securely supported on safety stands.

• Continuous exposure to USED engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your skin by washing with soap and water immediately after working with engine oil.

1.Turn the steering wheel completely to the right.

2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(US)].)

3.Remove the front under cover No.2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.Remove the front splash shield (RH). (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.Drain the engine oil. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))].)

6.Remove the oil pan. (See OIL PAN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))].)

7.Remove in the order indicated in the table.

8.Install in the reverse order of removal.

9.Refill with the specified type and amount of the engine oil. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))].)

10.Start the engine and confirm that there is no oil leakage.

• If there is oil leakage, repair or replace the applicable part.

11.Inspect the oil level. (See ENGINE OIL LEVEL INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))].)

12.Inspect the oil pressure. (See OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))].)

Oil Pump Driven Sprocket Removal Note (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)

1.While locking the oil pump against rotation as shown in the figure, remove the oil pump driven sprocket installation bolt.

2.Remove the oil pump driven sprocket.

Oil Pump Driven Sprocket Removal Note (SKYACTIV-G 2.5)

1.Mark the following parts as shown in the figure.

• Oil pump driven sprocket

• Oil pump chain

• Balancer unit sprocket

Note

• The marks will be used as alignment marks when installing the oil pump driven sprocket.

2.While locking the oil pump against rotation as shown in the figure, remove the oil pump driven sprocket installation bolt.

3.While pressing the oil pump chain in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure, remove the oil pump driven sprocket.

Oil Pump Installation Note (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)

1.Install the oil pump using the following procedure:

(1)Temporarily tighten the three bolts shown in the figure.

(2)Tighten the two bolts shown in the figure to the specified torque.

• The tightening order for the two bolts is optional.

(3)Finally, tighten the bolt shown in the figure to the specified torque.

Oil Pump Installation Note (SKYACTIV-G 2.5)

1.Install the oil pump using the following procedure:

(1)Temporarily tighten the three bolts shown in the figure.

(2)Tighten the two bolts shown in the figure to the specified torque.

• The tightening order for the two bolts is optional.

(3)Finally, tighten the bolt shown in the figure to the specified torque.

Oil Pump Driven Sprocket Installation Note (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)

1.Install the oil pump driven sprocket.

2.While locking the oil pump against rotation as shown in the figure, tighten the oil pump driven sprocket installation bolt.

1.Align the marks on each sprocket and the oil pump chain.
