Purpose<\/p>\n

\u2022 The front radar sensor emits milimeter waves *1<\/sup> in front of the vehicle and detects a target object in front of the vehicle based on the reflected waves. The following systems are controlled based on target information from the front radar sensor.<\/div>\n

\u2015 Mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system<\/div>\n
\u2015 Mazda radar cruise control with stop & go function (MRCC WITH STOP & GO FUNCTION)<\/div>\n
\u2015 Smart brake support (SBS) system<\/div>\n
\u2015 Distance & speed alert (DSA) system<\/div>\n
\u2015 Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) system<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
*1 :These radio waves, at a frequency of 30\u2014300 GHz and a wavelength of 1\u201410 mm {0.04\u20140.39 in}, possess a property in which the effect of rain and dirt is comparatively small and insusceptible to interference of other radio waves.<\/div>\n

Functions<\/p>\n

\u2022 The front radar sensor emits milimeter waves at an angle of approx. 45\u00b0 (total 90\u00b0)<\/span> left and right of center from the front of the front radar sensor, and detects objects up to approx. 170 m {557 ft 9 in}<\/span> from the front of the vehicle.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Under the following conditions, the front radar sensor may not be able to detect vehicles ahead or obstructions correctly and each system may not operate normally.<\/div>\n

\u2015 The rear surface of a vehicle ahead does not reflect radio waves effectively, such as an unloaded trailer or an automobile with a loading platform covered by a soft top, vehicles with a hard plastic tailgate, and round-shaped vehicles.<\/div>\n
\u2015 Vehicles ahead with low vehicle height and thus less area for reflecting radio waves.<\/div>\n
\u2015 Visibility is reduced due to a vehicle ahead casting off water, snow, or sand from its tires and onto your windshield.<\/div>\n
\u2015 The luggage compartment is loaded with heavy objects or the rear passenger seats are occupied.<\/div>\n
\u2015 Ice, snow, or dirt is on the front surface of the front emblem.<\/div>\n
\u2015 During inclement weather such as rain, snow, or sand storms.<\/div>\n
\u2015 When driving near facilities or objects emitting strong radio waves.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\u2022 Under the following conditions, the front radar sensor may not be able to detect vehicles ahead or obstructions.<\/div>\n

\u2015 Roads with continuous curves.<\/div>\n
\u2015 Narrow lane roads due to road construction or lane closures.<\/div>\n
\u2015 The vehicle ahead enters the radar unit’s blind spot.<\/div>\n
\u2015 The vehicle ahead is driving abnormally due to accident or vehicle damage.<\/div>\n
\u2015 Roads with repeated up and down slopes.<\/div>\n
\u2015 Driving on poor roads or unpaved roads.<\/div>\n
\u2015 The distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead is extremely short.<\/div>\n
\u2015 A vehicle suddenly comes close such as by cutting into the lane.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
