Purpose<\/p>\n

\u2022 The trunk lid lights are used to signal the following conditions to vehicles\/people at the rear.<\/div>\n

\u2015 Back-up lights: Signals that the vehicle is backing up.<\/div>\n
\u2015 Taillights: Signals the presence of the vehicle during nighttime.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

\u2022 The back-up lights are illuminated in conjunction with the selector lever (ATX)\/shift lever (MTX) operation.<\/div>\n
\u2022 The taillights are illuminated in conjunction with the light switch operation (TNS (parking lights)).<\/div>\n

Construction<\/p>\n

\u2022 The back-up light bulb is an integrated structure.<\/div>\n
\u2022 The trunk lid light is integrated with the taillight (LED).<\/p>\n

\u2022 Fogging or condensation may occur inside the trunk lid lights, however, it is a natural phenomenon occurring as a result of a temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the trunk lid lights and has no effect on the light performance. Fogging or condensation will dissipate when the temperature inside the trunk lid lights rises after the back-up light is illuminated and a period of time has elapsed.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Operation<\/p>\n

Taillights<\/p>\n

1.When the light switch is in the TNS (parking lights) position with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the instrument cluster detects (1) a TNS (parking lights) signal.<\/p>\n

2.The instrument cluster sends (2) the TNS signal to the body control module (BCM) via CAN communication.<\/p>\n

\n

3.When the body control module (BCM) receives the TNS signal, it sends (3) a TNS on request signal to the electrical supply unit (ESU) via CAN communication.<\/p>\n

\n

4.When the electrical supply unit (ESU) receives the TNS on request signal, it turns the taillights on (4).<\/p>\n

3. When the body control module (BCM) receives the R position signal, it sends (3) a back-up light on request signal to the electrical supply unit (ESU) via CAN communication.<\/div>\n
4. When the electrical supply unit (ESU) receives the back-up light on request signal, it turns the back-up lights on (4).<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n\n\n\n
