\u2022 The solar radiation sensor detects the sunlight intensity and outputs a signal to the body control module (BCM).<\/div>\n

Function<\/p>\n

\u2022 The solar radiation sensor detects the sunlight intensity using the characteristic of the photodiode (light receiving diode) which flows current when the light strikes the semi-conductor part of the photodiode.<\/div>\n
\u2022 The solar radiation sensor converts the detected sunlight intensity to an electric signal.<\/div>\n

On-board diagnostic function<\/p>\n

\u2022 If there is a malfunction in the solar radiation sensor, it outputs an error signal to the body control module (BCM).<\/div>\n
\u2022 The body control module (BCM) outputs a DTC based on an error signal from the solar radiation sensor.<\/div>\n

Operation<\/p>\n

1.The solar radiation sensor detects (1) the sunlight intensity. The current decreases when the sunlight intensity emitted onto the solar radiation sensor is low and increases when the sunlight intensity emitted onto the solar radiation sensor is high.<\/p>\n

2.The microcomputer detects (2) the current from the solar radiation sensor and outputs (3) a solar radiation sensor signal to the body control module (BCM).<\/p>\n
