\u2022 Performing the following procedures could cause an open circuit in the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before servicing, disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.<\/div>\n
\u2022 If the characteristic value of a new coupling component is not input to the PCM or the characteristic value is input incorrectly after replacing the coupling component, it could result in the following conditions:<\/div>\n
\n
\n
\u2015 The system does not operate normally.<\/div>\n
\u2015 A problem with durability of the coupling component occurs.<\/div>\n
\n
\n
\u2022 After replacing the coupling component, read out the characteristic value of a new coupling component and write it to the PCM. (See COUPLING COMPONENT CALIBRATION DATA WRITING<\/a>.)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Read out the characteristic value of the coupling component from the label or mark shown in the figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.Switch the ignition ON (engine off).<\/p>\n

2.Release the electric parking brake.<\/p>\n

\n

3.Switch the ignition off while pressing the electric parking brake switch.<\/p>\n

\n

4.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

5.Drain the rear differential oil into a container. (See DIFFERENTIAL OIL REPLACEMENT<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

6.Remove the TWC or middle pipe. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

7.Remove the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

8.Remove the rear drive shaft. (See REAR DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

9.Disconnect the hose. (See Hose Installation Note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

10.Disconnect the AWD solenoid connector and harness clip.<\/p>\n

11.Support the rear differential component using a transmission jack.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Always verify that the rear differential component is securely supported by a jack. If the rear differential component falls off, it can cause serious injury or death, and damage to the vehicle.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

12.Remove in the order indicated in the table.<\/p>\n

13.Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n

14.Add the specified rear differential oil. (See DIFFERENTIAL OIL REPLACEMENT<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Clean away the remaining silicone sealant before applying new silicone sealant.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Install the coupling component before the applied silicone sealant starts to harden.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Add rear differential oil after the silicone sealant hardens.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Apply a thin layer of silicone sealant TB1217C or equivalent to the contact surfaces of the coupling component and the rear differential.<\/p>\n
