\u2022 Performing the following procedures could cause an open circuit in the front ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before servicing, disconnect the front ABS wheel-speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

2.Switch the ignition ON (engine off).<\/p>\n

\n

3.Release the electric parking brake.<\/p>\n

\n

4.Switch the ignition off while pressing the electric parking brake switch.<\/p>\n

\n

5.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

6.Disconnect the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector. (See ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE MOTOR GEAR UNIT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

7.Remove the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor and the bracket from the wheel hub component.<\/p>\n

8.Remove the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing.<\/p>\n

9.Remove in the order indicated in the table.<\/p>\n

10.Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n

\u2022 When removing the locknut, remove it manually without using an electric or pneumatic tool. Otherwise, the locknut may seize.<\/div>\n
\u2022 When removing the locknut, do not apply load at the ground to the axle. Otherwise, it could damage the wheel hub.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Remove the locknut with the brake pedal depressed.<\/p>\n

Wheel hub component Removal Note<\/p>\n

1.Install a spare nut onto the drive shaft.<\/p>\n

2.Tap the nut with a copper hammer and separate the drive shaft from the axle.<\/p>\n

1.If dust or grease is on the drive shaft thread area, wipe it off with a cloth.<\/p>\n
