Driver-side<\/p>\n

1.Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n

\n

2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more<\/span>. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

3.Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n

(1)Driver-side front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n

\n
(2)Driver-side front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n
<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\n
(3)Driver-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n
<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\n
(4)Passenger-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n
<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\n
(5)Hood release lever (See HOOD RELEASE LEVER AND RELEASE CABLE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n
<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

(6)Driver-side lower panel (See LOWER PANEL DISASSEMBLY\/ASSEMBLY [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n

4.Disconnect the driver-side knee air bag module connector. (See Knee air bag module connector disconnect note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

5.Remove the data link connector in the direction of arrow (2) while detaching the tabs in the direction of arrows (1).<\/p>\n

6.Remove the nut.<\/p>\n

7.Remove the bolt.<\/p>\n

8.Remove the driver-side knee air bag module while detaching the pin.<\/p>\n

\n

9.Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n

\n

10.Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).<\/p>\n

\n

11.Verify that the air bag\/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s<\/span> and turns off.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If the air bag\/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See DTC INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

Knee air bag module connector disconnect note<\/p>\n

1.Pull out the knee air bag module connector lock lever in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

2.Move the knee air bag module connector in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure to disconnect it.<\/p>\n

Passenger-side<\/p>\n

1.Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n

\n

4.Disconnect the passenger-side knee air bag module connector. (See Knee air bag module connector disconnect note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n
