Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the SAS control module. (See <a href=\"SM2335919\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM &#8211; US\/CANADA SPEC.]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM2335918\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM &#8211; US\/CANADA SPEC.]<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If the connector is connected and the ignition switch is turned to the ON position with the SAS control module not secured completely using the installation nuts, the SAS control module may detect a degree of impact even when something contacts it lightly, deploying the air bag module and pre-tensioner seat belt accidentally.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention2-label\">Caution<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention2 list\">\u2022 When replacing the SAS control module, perform the configuration to assure that the system operates correctly. (See <a href=\"SM2566554\">CONFIGURATION<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">1.When replacing the SAS control module, perform manual configuration using the following procedure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(1)Verify the personalization feature setting values with the customer.<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(2)Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(3)Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(4)Perform vehicle identification.<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(5)Select [Configuration] using the M-MDS.<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(6)Select [SAS].<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(7)Perform manual configuration following the instructions on the screen.<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">2.Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">3.Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for <span>1 min or more<\/span>. (See <a href=\"SM2565818\">NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">4.Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(1)Selector lever knob (ATX) (See <a href=\"SM2566210\">SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(2)Shift lever knob (MTX) (See <a href=\"SM2335451\">SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [C66M-R]<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(3)Shift panel (See <a href=\"SM2336563\">SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(4)Front console box (See <a href=\"SM2336555\">FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(5)Cup holder (See <a href=\"SM2336567\">CUP HOLDER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(6)Side wall (See <a href=\"SM2336557\">SIDE WALL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(7)Rear console (See <a href=\"SM2336564\">REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">5.Pull out the SAS control module connectors lock lever in the direction of arrow shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<table class=\"figure-flame-non\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<table class=\"figure-non-float\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/assets\/am3zzw00031996.png\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div class=\"figure-caption\">am3zzw00031996<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p class=\"list\">6.Disconnect the SAS control module connectors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<table class=\"figure-flame-non\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<table class=\"figure-non-float\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/assets\/am3zzw00024415.png\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div class=\"figure-caption\">am3zzw00024415<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p class=\"list\">7.Remove the nuts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">8.Remove the SAS control module.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">9.Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">10.If the SAS control module is replaced, perform the following procedure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(1)Perform manual configuration following the instructions on the M-MDS screen.<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If manual configuration is performed using the As-Built data, the set values for the personalization features may be reset to the initial values (condition when shipped from factory). Perform the personalization features setting after performing the manual configuration.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(2)Perform the following initial setting using the M-MDS. (See <a href=\"SM2565978\">DSC RELATED PARTS SENSOR INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE [(US)]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM2763852\">VCM INITIAL SETTING<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Calibrating Lateral G Sensor for DSC<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Calibrating Longitudinal G Sensor for DSC<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Calibrating Yaw Rate for DSC<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Calibrating Yaw Rate for VCM<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(3)Clear the DTC. (See <a href=\"SM2337316\">CLEARING DTC<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(4)Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(5)Verify that the air bag\/front seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light turns on for <span>approx. 6 s<\/span> and turns off.<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If the air bag\/front seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate properly, refer to the on-board diagnostic system and inspect the system.
