Before servicing, disconnect the front ABS wheel-speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If the steering wheel rotates after the steering shaft and the steering gear and linkage are disconnected, the internal parts of the clock spring could be damaged. Disconnect the steering shaft and then secure the steering wheel with tape or cable so that it does not rotate.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Do not allow the dust boot of the front stabilizer control link to touch the body, the front shock absorber and coil spring, and the hand tool. Otherwise, the dust boot of the front stabilizer control link could be damaged.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">1.Remove the wheel and tire. (See <a href=\"SM2334988\">WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">2.Disconnect the rubber from the bracket.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<table class=\"figure-flame\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"10mm\"><\/td>\n<td>\n<table class=\"figure-float\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/assets\/am3zzw00023150.png\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div class=\"figure-caption\">am3zzw00023150<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p class=\"list\">3.Disconnect the front ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness on the steering knuckle and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">4.Remove the tunnel cover. (See <a href=\"SM2565760\">EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM2565762\">EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">5.Remove the following parts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(1)Front under cover No.1 (See <a href=\"SM2336506\">FRONT UNDER COVER No.1 REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"list\">\n<dd>(2)Front under cover No.2 (See <a href=\"SM2336507\">FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">6. Disconnect the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle. (See <a href=\"SM2335532\">TIE-ROD END REPLACEMENT<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">7.Disconnect the front lower arm ball joint from the steering knuckle. (See <a href=\"SM2336502\">SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">11.Remove the joint cover. (See <a href=\"SM2335544\">INTERMEDIATE SHAFT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">12.Disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear and linkage. (See <a href=\"SM2335544\">INTERMEDIATE SHAFT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">13.Remove the front crossmember component. (See <a href=\"SM2334998\">FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">14.Remove the hole cover No.1 and hole cover No.2. (See <a href=\"SM2334998\">FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">15.Remove the steering gear and linkage from the front crossmember component. (See <a href=\"SM2335537\">STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">16.Remove the locknuts, tie-rod ends, boot clamps, boot bands, and boots from the steering gear and linkage. (See <a href=\"SM2335538\">STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE DISASSEMBLY [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">17.Measure the pinion shaft rotation torque using a crescent wrench and pull scale.
