\u2022 Do not allow clutch fluid to get on a painted surface. Clutch fluid contains properties which can dissolve the paint. If clutch fluid gets on a painted surface, rinse with water immediately, then wipe the area dry.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

2.Remove the following parts as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.) (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Air cleaner cover<\/div>\n
\u2022 Air cleaner element<\/div>\n
\u2022 Fresh-air duct<\/div>\n
\u2022 Air cleaner case<\/div>\n
\u2022 Air hose<\/div>\n
\u2022 Resonance chamber<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

3.Remove the battery. (See BATTERY REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.) (See BATTERY REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

4.Remove the battery tray and PCM component as a single unit. (See BATTERY REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.) (See BATTERY REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

5.Remove the clutch master cylinder using the following procedure. (See Clutch Master Cylinder Installation Note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

(1)Disconnect the clutch stroke sensor connector.<\/dd>\n

(3)Remove the starter interlock switch. (See STARTER INTERLOCK SWITCH REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [C66M-R (US)]<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n

(4)Remove the joint cover. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n

(5)Disconnect the clutch pipe No.1 from clutch master cylinder, and plug it to avoid clutch fluid leakage. (See CLUTCH PIPE AND HOSE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [C66M-R (US)]<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n

(6)Disconnect the clutch reserve hose from clutch master cylinder, and plug it to avoid clutch fluid leakage. (See CLUTCH PIPE AND HOSE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [C66M-R (US)]<\/a>.)<\/dd>\n

(7)Remove the clutch pedal and the clutch master cylinder as a single unit.<\/dd>\n

(9)Rotate the clutch master cylinder in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure to disconnect the clutch master cylinder (body) and clutch pedal.<\/dd>\n

\u2022 When removing the clutch master cylinder, completely detach the push rod tabs so as not to damage them. If the tabs are not completely detached, they may be damaged when the clutch master cylinder is removed.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

6.Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n

7.Fully depress the clutch pedal, and verify that the engine starts.<\/p>\n

Clutch Master Cylinder Installation Note<\/p>\n

1.Engage the tabs of the push rod with the clutch pedal as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

2.Rotate the clutch master cylinder in the direction shown until it stops.<\/p>\n

4.Install the clutch pedal and the clutch master cylinder as a single unit. (See CLUTCH PEDAL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [C66M-R (US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

5.Connect the clutch reserve hose to clutch master cylinder. (See CLUTCH PIPE AND HOSE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [C66M-R (US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

6.Connect the clutch pipe No.1 to clutch master cylinder. (See CLUTCH PIPE AND HOSE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [C66M-R (US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

7.Install the joint cover. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

8.Bleed the air from the clutch system. (See CLUTCH FLUID REPLACEMENT\/AIR BLEEDING [C66M-R (US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

9.Inspect the clutch pedal. (See CLUTCH PEDAL INSPECTION [C66M-R (US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

10.Install a new starter interlock switch. (See STARTER INTERLOCK SWITCH REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [C66M-R (US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

11.Install the bracket to the steering shaft. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n
