\u2022 When in maintenance mode, the clearance between the disc pad and the disc plate expands.<\/div>\n
\u2022 When the maintenance mode is completed, perform the electric parking brake automatic adjustment.<\/div>\n
\u2022 With the electric parking brake automatic adjustment, the electric parking brake motor gear unit operation time is longer than normal.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Switch to the maintenance mode. (See MAINTENANCE MODE<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

3.Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Do not allow moisture, dust or foreign matter to penetrate the connector as it could cause the electric parking brake motor gear unit to malfunction.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

4.Disconnect the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector. (See ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE MOTOR GEAR UNIT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

5.Remove in the order indicated in the table.<\/p>\n

\n

6.Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n

\n

7.End the maintenance mode. (See MAINTENANCE MODE<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

8.After installation, pump the brake pedal a few times and inspect the following:<\/p>\n

Rear Brake Caliper Removal Note<\/p>\n

1.Remove the rear brake caliper and suspend it in a place out of the way using a cable.<\/p>\n

Disc Pad Installation Note<\/p>\n

1.Clean the exposed area of the piston.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If the piston is pushed into the rear brake caliper while rotating the piston, the rear brake caliper internal parts and dust seal could be damaged. Be careful not to rotate the piston when pushing the piston into the rear brake caliper.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

2.Completely press in the piston using a commercially available disc brake expander tool.<\/p>\n

3.Apply grease to the locations shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

4.Install the disc pads to the rear brake mounting support.<\/p>\n

Retaining Clip Installation Note<\/p>\n

1.Temporarily install the retaining clip to the rear brake caliper and rear brake mounting support as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

2.While holding retaining clip A so that it does not detach from the rear brake caliper, install retaining clip B to the rear brake mounting support.<\/p>\n
