\u2022 Whenever drilling into a rear shock absorber, wear protective eye wear. The gas in the shock absorber is pressurized and could spray metal filings into the eye.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Place the shock absorber on a level surface or with the piston pointing downwards.<\/p>\n

2.Remove the dust boot, bump stopper, mounting rubber component. (See REAR SHOCK ABSORBER DISASSEMBLY\/ASSEMBLY [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

3.Drill a 2\u20143 mm {0.08\u20140.11 in}<\/span> hole at point A shown in the figure so the gas can escape.<\/p>\n

4.Turn the hole made in Step 3 downwards and drain the oil by pumping the piston rod up and down several times.<\/p>\n

5.Cut off the bottom end of the rear shock absorber.<\/p>\n

6.Dispose of waste oil according to local waste disposal laws.<\/p>\n
