For the single Drive Mode, the entire monitoring item requested by OBD-II regulations can be diagnosed.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 The following modes are in the specific Drive Mode. The applicable system is diagnosed by driving in the following Drive Modes.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Mode 03 (Variable Valve Timing, A\/F Sensor, HO2S and TWC Repair Verification Drive Mode)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Mode 06 (EVAP System Repair Verification Drive Mode)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 The following systems are diagnosed with the single Drive Mode.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Oxygen sensor (A\/F sensor, HO2S)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Catalytic converter (TWC)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Evaporative (EVAP) system<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention1-label\">Warning<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention1\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 While performing the Drive Mode, always operate the vehicle in a safe and lawful manner.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 When the M-MDS is used to observe monitor system status while driving, be sure to have another technician with you, or record the data in the M-MDS using the PID\/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD function and inspect later.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention3-label\">Note<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention3\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Vehicle speed and engine speed detected by the PCM may differ from that indicated by the speedometer and tachometer. Use the M-MDS to monitor vehicle speed.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If the OBD-II system inspection is not completed during the Drive Mode, the following causes are considered:<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 The OBD-II system detects the malfunction.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 The Drive Mode procedure is not completed correctly.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Disconnecting the battery will reset the memory. Do not disconnect the battery during and after Drive Mode.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 The M-MDS can be used anytime during the drive mode course to monitor the completion of the Drive Mode. Conditions can be monitored by viewing the Mode01 Powertrain Data menu. (See <a href=\"SM2566553\">ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) TEST MODES<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 The OBD monitoring status can be confirmed with the ignition switch operation. During KOEO, the check engine light illuminates for a fail-light inspection for <span>approx. 17 s<\/span>. The OBD monitoring status is confirmed after the fail-light inspection.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 If all of the diagnosis is completed even one time, the check engine light will continue to illuminate.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 If all of the diagnosis is not completed, the check engine light flashes for <span>approx. 7 s<\/span>, and then it illuminates until the engine is started.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><br \/>\n<a name=\"id0102t48013t601\" id=\"id0102t48013t601\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"servinfosub-title\">Mode 03 (Variable Valve Timing, A\/F Sensor, HO2S and TWC Repair Verification Drive Mode)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">1.Start the engine and warm it up completely.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">2.Verify all accessory loads (A\/C, headlights, blower fan, rear window defogger) are off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">3.Drive the vehicle as shown in the graph.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\n<table class=\"figure-flame-non\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<table class=\"figure-non-float\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/assets\/am3zzw00033870.png\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div class=\"figure-caption\">am3zzw00033870<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"deflist\">*1 :MTX: accelerate in 5th gear. (accelerate to <span>89 km\/h {55 mph}<\/span> within <span>20 s<\/span>.)<\/div>\n<div class=\"deflist\">*2 :Accelerate in 3rd gear. (accelerate to <span>72 km\/h {45 mph}<\/span> within <span>15 s<\/span>.)<\/div>\n<p class=\"list\">4.To verify the completion of the drive mode, stop the vehicle and display the [Mode 1 Powertrain Data] of the ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) TEST MODES using the M-MDS.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">(See <a href=\"SM2566553\">ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) TEST MODES<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If the drive mode has been completed, [***RDY] (each system completed) of the PID [***SUP] (with\/without support for each system monitor) item indicating YES changes from NO to YES.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 If the drive mode has not been completed, switch the ignition off and repeat the procedure from Step 3 again.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">5.Access the diagnostic monitoring test results menu of generic OBD-II functions to verify the monitor results.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">(See <a href=\"SM2566553\">ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) TEST MODES<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If detected values are not within specification, repair has not been completed.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">6.Verify that no DTCs are displayed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><br \/>\n<a name=\"id0102t48013t602\" id=\"id0102t48013t602\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"servinfosub-title\">Mode 06 (EVAP System Repair Verification Drive Mode)<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention3-label\">Note<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention3 list\">\u2022 If \u201cEVAP System Repair Verification Drive Mode\u201d cannot be performed (it is impossible to drive the vehicle under this Drive Mode condition), perform the evaporative system test procedure as an alternative. (See <a href=\"SM2565594\">ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G (US)]<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">1.Verify that all of the following PIDs are within the following specifications. All PIDs must be within specifications before the engine is started to initiate the evaporative system test.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 IAT: <span>5\u201435 \u00b0C {41\u201495 \u00b0F}<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 FLI: <span>15\u201485 %<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 BARO: <span>Above 72.2 kPa {0.736 kgf\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>, 10.5 psi}<\/span><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">2.Start the engine and warm it up completely.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">3.Clear the DTCs from the PCM memory using the M-MDS. (See <a href=\"SM2337316\">CLEARING DTC<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">5.With the vehicle stopped, race the engine at the engine speed indicated, and then drive the vehicle as shown in the graph.
