\u2022 Is the engine generating excessive heat when driven?<\/div>\n<\/td>\n

\u2022 When the M-MDS is used to observe monitor system status while driving, be sure to have another technician with you, or record the data in the M-MDS using the PID\/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD capturing function and inspect later.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\u2022 Access the ECT PID using the M-MDS. (See PID\/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Is the ECT PID value less than 122 \u00b0C {252 \u00b0F}<\/span> while the vehicle is driven on a flat road?<\/div>\n<\/td>\n

\u2022 Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.<\/div>\n

\u2015 Start the engine and warm it up completely.<\/div>\n
\u2015 Drive the vehicle.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\u2022 Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Is the same Pending DTC present?<\/div>\n<\/td>\n

Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.<\/div>\n

If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.<\/div>\n
