Afterwards, if the rain sensor detects the necessary amount of rainfall for high speed operation, the windshield wipers are operated continuously at high speed.<\/div>\n

\u2022 If servicing such as vehicle washing is performed with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on) and the windshield wiper switch is in the AUTO position, the windshield wipers may operate automatically and your finger or hand could be pinched, leading to an injury or wiper system malfunction. Always switch the ignition off or turn the windshield wiper switch to the OFF position before servicing.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

Intermittent operation\/Continuous low speed operation<\/p>\n

1.When the windshield wiper switch is in the AUTO position (1) with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the instrument cluster detects (2) a windshield wiper switch AUTO signal.<\/p>\n

\n

2.When the instrument cluster detects the windshield wiper switch AUTO signal, it sends (3) a windshield wiper AUTO operation request signal and AUTO volume signal to the body control module (BCM) via CAN communication.<\/p>\n

\n

3.The body control module (BCM) sends (4) the windshield wiper AUTO operation request signal and AUTO volume signal, and the vehicle speed signal sent from the PCM to the rain sensor via LIN communication.<\/p>\n

\n

4.When the rain sensor receives the windshield wiper AUTO operation request signal, it detects (5) the amount of rainfall.<\/p>\n

\n

5.The rain sensor determines the operation interval of the windshield wipers based on the detected rainfall amount and the signal from the body control module (BCM), and sends (6) a windshield wiper LO operation request signal to the body control module (BCM).<\/p>\n

\n

6.When the body control module (BCM) receives the windshield wiper LO operation request signal, it sends (7) the signal to the windshield wiper motor via LIN communication.<\/p>\n

\n

7.When the windshield wiper motor receives the windshield wiper LO operation request signal, it operates (8) the windshield wipers intermittently or continuously at low speed.<\/p>\n
