Operation<\/p>\n

1.When the rear window defogger switch is turned on with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the climate control unit sends a rear window defogger operation request signal (1) to the BCM via CAN communication.<\/p>\n

\n

2.When the BCM receives the rear window defogger operation signal, it turns the rear window defogger relay on (2).<\/p>\n

\n

3.When the rear window defogger relay turns on, the windshield wiper de-icer relay turns on (3).<\/p>\n

\n

4.The rear window defogger timer operates at the same time the rear window defogger relay and windshield wiper de-icer relay turn on. In addition, voltage is supplied (4) to the rear window defogger\/heated outer mirror\/windshield wiper de-icer filaments and the filaments are heated to warm the glass around the rear window glass\/outer mirror glass\/windshield wipers.<\/p>\n

\u2022 When approx. 15 min<\/span> have elapsed after the rear window defogger timer started operation, the BCM turns the rear window defogger relay off and stops the rear window defogger\/heated outer mirror\/windshield wiper de-icer operation. (Rear window defogger operation time is set to “Automatic Shut Off”.)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n\n\n\n
