Purpose<\/p>\n

\u2022 The passenger sensing system controls the front passenger’s air bag and pre-tensioner seat belt operation (deployment) based on the passenger seat status signal.<\/div>\n

Function<\/p>\n

\u2022 The SAS control module switches the following air bag modules and pre-tensioner seat belt between operable (deployable) standby and inoperable (non-deployable) based on the passenger seat status signal received from the seat weight sensor control module.<\/div>\n

Operation<\/p>\n

Passenger seat status signal indicates adult<\/p>\n

1.When the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), the SAS control module sends (2) a PAD indicator request signal to the indicator unit based on the passenger seat status signal (1).<\/p>\n

\n

2.The indicator unit turns the transistor off (3) based on the PAD indicator request signal.<\/p>\n

\n

3.When the transistor turns off, the passenger air bag indicator and PAD OFF indicator turn off (4).<\/p>\n

\n

4.The SAS control module puts the passenger-side air bag module, passenger-side knee air bag module, passenger-side side air bag module and passenger-side front pre-tensioner seat belt on operation (deployment) standby.<\/p>\n

Passenger seat status signal indicates child\/empty<\/p>\n

1.When the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), the SAS control module sends (2) a PAD indicator request signal to the indicator unit based on the passenger seat status signal (1).<\/p>\n

2.The indicator unit turns on the transistor (3) based on the PAD indicator request signal.<\/p>\n

\n

3.When the transistor turns on, the passenger air bag indicator and PAD OFF indicator turn on (4).<\/p>\n

\n

4.The SAS control module inhibits the operation (deployment) (5) of the passenger-side air bag module, passenger-side knee air bag module, passenger-side side air bag module and passenger-side front pre-tensioner seat belt.<\/p>\n
