\u2022 The front pre-tensioner seat belt retracts and tightens the belt webbing (between front buckle and pre-tensioner seat belt) against the occupant’s upper torso to hold the occupant firmly in the seat and protect the occupant during a collision.<\/div>\n

Function<\/p>\n

\u2022 The front pre-tensioner seat belts operate (deploy) based on the operation signal from the SAS control module to instantly retract and tighten the belt webbing, restraining the driver and front passenger.<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Normal operation (pre-tensioner non-operation)<\/p>\n

\u2022 The spool (retraction shaft) of the front pre-tensioner seat belt (1) is separated from the clutch pawl base (2).<\/div>\n
\u2022 The spool of the front pre-tensioner seat belt rotates (4) in conjunction with the with drawl\/retraction of the front seat belt (3).<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n\n\n\n

Pre-tensioner activation<\/p>\n

1.The gas generator produces (1) gas when it receives an operation signal from the SAS control module.<\/p>\n

\n

2.The piston in the cylinder is pressed (3) by the generated gas pressure (2) and the gear and the clutch pawl base rotate (4).<\/p>\n

\n

3.The clutch pawl is pulled out and engaged (5) with the spool by the rotation of the gear and the clutch pawl base. The ring gear is engaged with the locking base and the force of the ball being pressed out is transmitted to the retraction shaft.<\/p>\n

\n

4.When the clutch pawl is engaged, the force of the pressed piston is transmitted to the spool and the spool rotates (6).<\/p>\n

\n

5.The front seat belt is retracted (7) by the rotation of the spool.<\/p>\n
