\u2022 Do not empty the brake fluid in the rear brake caliper. Otherwise, the DSC HU\/CM could be damaged.<\/div>\n
\u2022 When disconnecting the brake hose from the rear brake caliper, always plug and seal the rear brake caliper so that brake fluid does not leak.<\/div>\n
\u2022 A new rear brake caliper has been plugged sealing off the brake fluid. For this reason, remove the plug of the rear brake caliper directly before installing the rear brake caliper to the vehicle. Other than for this, do not remove the plug of the rear brake caliper.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

\u2022 When in maintenance mode, the clearance between the disc pad and the disc plate expands.<\/div>\n
\u2022 When the maintenance mode is completed, perform the electric parking brake automatic adjustment.<\/div>\n
\u2022 With the electric parking brake automatic adjustment, the electric parking brake motor gear unit operation time is longer than normal.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Switch to the maintenance mode. (See MAINTENANCE MODE<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

3.Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Do not allow moisture, dust or foreign matter to penetrate the connector as it could cause the electric parking brake motor gear unit to malfunction.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

4.Disconnect the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector. (See ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE MOTOR GEAR UNIT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

5.Remove in the order indicated in the table.<\/p>\n

\n

6.Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n

\n

7.End the maintenance mode. (See MAINTENANCE MODE<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

8.After installation, add brake fluid, bleed the air, and inspect for fluid leakage. (See BRAKE FLUID AIR BLEEDING [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

9.After installation, pump the brake pedal a few times and inspect the following:<\/p>\n

\u2022 When disconnecting the brake hose from the rear brake caliper, always plug and seal the rear brake caliper so that brake fluid does not leak.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.After disconnecting the brake hose, plug the brake hose installation hole.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If the piston is pushed into the rear brake caliper while rotating the piston, the rear brake caliper internal parts and dust seal could be damaged. Be careful not to rotate the piston when pushing the piston into the rear brake caliper.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Completely press in the piston using a commercially available disc brake expander tool.<\/p>\n

1.Temporarily install the retaining clip to the rear brake caliper and rear brake mounting support as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

2.While holding retaining clip A so that it does not detach from the rear brake caliper, install retaining clip B to the rear brake mounting support.<\/p>\n

3.Verify that the retaining clip is installed to the rear brake caliper and rear brake mounting support securely.<\/p>\n
