Function inspection<\/p>\n

1.Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.<\/p>\n

2.Switch the ignition ON (engine off).<\/p>\n

3.Display the PID ECT_VOLT and ECT. (See PID\/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

4.Compare the voltage indications for PID ECT_VOLT and the temperature indications for PID ECT with the standards in the table indicated below.<\/p>\n

\u2022 A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor No.1.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2.Remove the ECT sensor No.1. (See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

3.Place the ECT sensor No.1 in water with a thermometer, and heat the water gradually.<\/p>\n
