\u2022 If foreign matter such as metal shaving adhere to the CKP sensor, it can cause abnormal output from the sensor because of flux turbulence, which can negatively affect the engine control. Verify that there is no foreign matter on the CKP sensor when replacing.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Do not assemble the CKP sensor or change the installation position using any method other than the following. Otherwise, it could negatively affect engine control, such as the ignition timing and fuel injection.<\/div>\n
\u2022 If the wiring harnesses or waterproof connectors are damaged, water penetrating the connector will cause a sensor malfunction. To prevent this, be careful not to damage wiring harnesses or waterproof connectors.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

Visual Inspection<\/p>\n

1.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2.Remove the CKP sensor. (See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

3.Verify that there are no metal shavings on the sensor.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If there is a malfunction, remove any metal shavings that are adhering.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

Voltage Inspection<\/p>\n

1.Idle the engine.<\/p>\n

2.Measure the output voltage wave pattern between CKP sensor terminals C and B using an oscilloscope.<\/p>\n
