\u2022 Fuel is highly flammable and fuel line spills and leakage from the pressurized fuel system are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injury or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the [Fuel Line Safety Procedure], while referring to the [BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION]. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Complete the \u201cBEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION\u201d. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

2.Disconnect the fuel pump relay.<\/p>\n

\n

3.Disconnect the sub relay.<\/p>\n

\n

4.Remove the ignition coil\/ion sensors. (See IGNITION COIL\/ION SENSOR REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

5.Remove the spark plugs. (See SPARK PLUG REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

6.Connect the connectors to the ignition coil\/ion sensors.<\/p>\n

\n

7.Install the spark plug to the ignition coil\/ion sensor, and ground the spark plug to the engine.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Do not come near the vehicle when performing the spark inspection. Otherwise, you may receive a strong shock.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Always verify that there are no flammable objects which could ignite from sparks. If highly flammable gas ignites, it could cause serious injury or death, and damage to equipment.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

\u2022 Ignition occurs in each cylinder independently.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

8.Verify that a pale, strong spark from the spark plug occurs when the engine is cranked.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Perform the following inspections for the cylinders for which sparks cannot be verified.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\n
(1)Replace the spark plug with one from a cylinder that a spark was verified.<\/dd>\n
<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\n
(2)Verify that a pale, strong spark from the spark plug occurs when the engine is cranked.<\/dd>\n

\n
\u2022 If a spark can be verified, inspect the spark plug. (See SPARK PLUG INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/div>\n
\u2022 If a spark cannot be verified, perform the following inspections.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\n
1)Replace the ignition coil\/ion sensor of the cylinder for which a spark was verified.<\/dd>\n
<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\n

\u2015 Ignition coil connector (poor connection presence\/absence)<\/div>\n
\u2015 Ignition coil power supply (ignition coil terminal A) system<\/div>\n
\u2015 Ignition coil ground (ignition coil terminal D) system<\/div>\n

9.Crank the engine with the accelerator pedal depressed.<\/p>\n
