(See <a href=\"SM2565613\">PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">3.Disconnect the evaporative hose between the purge solenoid valve and the charcoal canister.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">4.While idling the engine when cold, verify that vacuum is not applied by touching the purge solenoid valve with your finger as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<table class=\"figure-flame\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"10mm\"><\/td>\n<td>\n<table class=\"figure-float\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/assets\/am3zzw00025128.png\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div class=\"figure-caption\">am3zzw00025128<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If vacuum is applied, inspect the following and repair or replace the malfunctioning location.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 PCM output signal circuit (wiring harness, connector)<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Evaporative purge control signal (short to ground in wiring harness between purge solenoid valve terminal A and PCM terminal 1AW)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Purge solenoid valve (See <a href=\"#id0116u080090004\">Airflow Inspection<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">5.Load the vehicle on the chassis dynamometer and drive it while maintaining the engine speed at approx. 2,000 rpm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention1-label\">Warning<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention1 list\">\u2022 When using a chassis dynamometer, be careful not to get parts such as tires or rollers caught in the rotating parts.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">6. <span>Verify that vacuum is applied after approx. 30 s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If vacuum cannot be verified, inspect the following.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 PCM input signal circuit (sensor, switch, wiring harness)<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Intake air temperature No.1 signal (IAT sensor No.1)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Evaporative purge control signal (open circuit in wiring harness between purge solenoid valve terminal A and PCM terminal 1AW)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Throttle opening angle signal (throttle position sensor)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Under load\/under no-load determination signal (transaxle range sensor)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Purge solenoid valve<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Purge solenoid valve power supply circuit (open or short circuit in wiring harness between purge solenoid valve terminal B and main relay terminal)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"id0116u080090003\" id=\"id0116u080090003\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"topic-title\">Using The M-MDS<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">1.Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">2.Start the engine and idle it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">3.Remove the plug hole plate. Switch the ignition OFF.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">2. Switch the ignition ON (engine off).<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">3. When the 0% duty value of the purge solenoid valve is operated at a 50% duty value using the simulation function [PRG_DUTY], verify the operation sound of the purge solenoid valve. (See <a href=\"SM2337318\">SIMULATION INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If the operation sound can be verified, inspect the following.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Evaporative hose disconnection or damage (between intake manifold and purge solenoid valve, and purge solenoid valve and charcoal canister)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If the operation sound cannot be verified, inspect the following.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Purge solenoid valve (See <a href=\"#id0116u080090004\">Airflow Inspection<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Open circuit in wiring harnesses and connectors (between main relay terminal and purge solenoid valve terminal B, purge solenoid valve terminal A and PCM terminal 1AW)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention1-label\">Warning<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention1\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 When the M-MDS is used to observe monitor system status while driving, be sure to have another technician with you, or record the data in the M-MDS using the PID\/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD capturing function and inspect later.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 While performing this step, always operate the vehicle in a safe and lawful manner.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">8.Drive the vehicle at an engine speed of approx. 2,000 rpm for 30 s or more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">9.Verify that the PID [PRG_DUTY] value fluctuates between 0% and 100%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If the PID [PRG_DUTY] value fluctuation cannot be verified, inspect the following and repair or replace the malfunctioning location.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 PCM input signal circuit (sensor, switch, wiring harness)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Intake air temperature No.1 signal (IAT sensor No. 1)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Throttle opening angle signal (throttle position sensor)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Under load\/under no-load determination signal (transaxle range sensor)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><br \/>\n<a name=\"id0116u080090004\" id=\"id0116u080090004\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"servinfosub-title\">Airflow Inspection<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">1.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See <a href=\"SM2565818\">NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">2.Remove the purge solenoid valve.
