\u2022 Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from fuel.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Highly pressurized fuel may spray out if the fuel line is cut. Due to the following dangers occurring with a fuel spray, always complete the \u201cFuel Line Safety Procedure\u201d to prevent the fuel from spraying.<\/div>\n

\u2015 Fuel may cause irritation if it comes in contact with skin and eyes.<\/div>\n
\u2015 If fuel ignites and causes a fire, it may lead to serious injury or death, and damage to property and facilities.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
\u2022 A person charged with static electricity could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in death or serious injury. Before performing work on the fuel system, discharge static electricity by touching the vehicle body.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

1.Complete the \u201cBEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION\u201d. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

3.Remove the rear seat cushion. (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

4.Remove the fuel pump unit. (See FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n

5.Drain the fuel from the fuel tank to the position where the non-return valve is visible. (See FUEL DRAINING PROCEDURE [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

6.Verify that the non-return valve is closed.<\/p>\n
