(See <a href=\"SM2565608\">OIL CONTROL VALVE (OCV) REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">3.Connect the OCV connector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">4.Switch the ignition ON (engine off).<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">5.Verify that the spool valve is at the maximum advanced position.<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 If the spool valve is stuck in the retard direction, inspect for the following:<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Short circuit in wiring harnesses or connectors between OCV and PCM<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p class=\"list\">6.Inspect the hydraulic variable valve timing actuator. (See <a href=\"SM2565595\">HYDRAULIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"id0110u080140003\" id=\"id0110u080140003\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"topic-title\">When idling can be continued<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list-title\">Using The M-MDS<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">2. Warm up the engine.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">3. Using the simulation function [VLV_TIMING_DSD_EX], verify that the engine speed fluctuates when the OCV duty value is 100%. (See <a href=\"SM2337318\">SIMULATION INSPECTION<\/a>.) If the engine speed fluctuates, verify the condition of the timing chain assembly (valve timing). If the engine speed does not fluctuate, perform the following inspections.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">1. OCV coil resistance inspection and spool valve operation inspection. (See <a href=\"#id0110u080140004\">Coil Resistance Inspection<\/a>.)(See <a href=\"#id0110u080140005\">Spool Valve Operation Inspection<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">2. Inspect the following wiring harnesses and connectors between the OCV and PCM for an open and short circuit.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Between OCV terminal A and PCM terminal 1CO<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2022 Between OCV terminal B and F12 15A fuse, and F12 15 fuse and main relay terminal C<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"list\">3. Inspect the oil passage for clogging and leakage.<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list-title\">Oil passage<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd class=\"list\">\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Between engine oil solenoid valve and OCV<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Between OCV and camshaft<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">\u2015 Oil passage inside camshaft<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"list\">4. If the inspection items are normal, replace the hydraulic variable valve timing actuator. (See <a href=\"SM2565617\">ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING MOTOR\/DRIVER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))]<\/a>.)<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list-title\">Without Using the M-MDS<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"list\">1. Disconnect the OCV connector.<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">2. Start the engine and idle it.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention3-label\">Note<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div class=\"attention3 list\">\u2022 When applying battery voltage between the OCV terminals, the positive and negative cables can be connected to either terminal A or B.<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"list\">3. (See <a href=\"SM2565818\">NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">2.Remove the plug hole plate. (See <a href=\"SM2565818\">NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION [(US)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"list\">2.Remove the OCV.
