Note
• When in maintenance mode, the clearance between the disc pad and the disc plate expands.
• When the maintenance mode is completed, perform the electric parking brake automatic adjustment.
• With the electric parking brake automatic adjustment, the electric parking brake motor gear unit operation time is longer than normal.



Switching To Maintenance Mode

Caution
• When performing the procedure while the vehicle is on the ground, block the front and rear wheels using wheel blocks. Otherwise, the vehicle may move when the electric parking brake is released.

1.Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

 

2.Release the electric parking brake by pushing down the electric parking brake switch while pressing the brake pedal.

 

3.Release the brake pedal and then depress the accelerator pedal all the way down (past the kickdown switch on ATX model) and continue to hold it down.

 

4.Push down on the electric parking brake switch and continue to hold it down.

 

5.Press and release the push button start 3 times within 5 seconds. (OFF → ACC → IG-ON)

 

6.Verify that the brake control system warning light is illuminated in an amber color to indicate it is switched to maintenance mode.

 

7.Switch the ignition to off and release the accelerator pedal and electric parking brake switch.

 



Ending Maintenance Mode

1.Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

 

2.Depress the accelerator pedal all the way down (past the kickdown switch on ATX model) and continue to hold it down.

 

3.Pull up on the electric parking brake switch and continue to hold it down.

 

4.Press and release the push button start 3 times within 5 seconds. (OFF → ACC → IG-ON)

 

5.Verify that the brake control system warning light turns off and the maintenance mode is canceled.

 

6.Switch the ignition to off and release the accelerator pedal and electric parking brake switch.
