Leakage inspection (U.S.A. And CANADA)

Caution
• Do not apply a pressure 20 kPa {150 mmHg, 5.91 inHg} or more to the charcoal canister for 1 min. or more. Doing so will damage the charcoal canister.
• Do not operate CV solenoid valve.

1.Remove the following parts as a single unit: (See CHARCOAL CANISTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))].)

• Charcoal canister (main)
• Charcoal canister (sub)
• Evaporative hose

2.Assemble the hose used for inspection to port A.

3.Tightly close ports B, C, and D with caps.

4.Apply pressure (19.6 kPa {147 mmHg, 5.79 inHg}) through the hose, and verify that air does not leak from the charcoal canister.

am3zzw00022286
• If there is air leakage, replace the charcoal canister (main) and the charcoal canister (sub). (See CHARCOAL CANISTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))].)
• If there is no airflow, perform the following “Airflow Inspection”. (See Airflow inspection (U.S.A. And CANADA).)

Airflow inspection (U.S.A. And CANADA)

1.Assemble the air filter component to the charcoal canister (sub). (See CHARCOAL CANISTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))] .)

2.Perform the following procedure to verify the charcoal canister airflow. (Between port A and air filter)

(1)Plug ports B and C.
am3zzw00022287
(2)Apply a pressure of 2.0 kPa {15 mmHg, 0.59 inHg} to port A.
(3)Verify that there is airflow from air filter.
• If there is no airflow, replace the charcoal canister (main) and the charcoal canister (sub). (See CHARCOAL CANISTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))].)

3.Perform the following procedure to verify the charcoal canister airflow. (Between port B and air filter)

(1)Plug ports A and C.
am3zzw00022288
(2)Apply a pressure of 1.8 kPa {14 mmHg, 0.53 inHg} to air filter.
(3)Verify that there is airflow from port B.
• If there is no airflow, replace the charcoal canister (main) and the charcoal canister (sub). (See CHARCOAL CANISTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))].)
