2016 – MX-5 – Engine<\/h2>\n

REAR OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/h3>\n

1. Remove the transmission. (See TRANSMISSION REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [M66M-D]<\/a> (MT).) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL]<\/a> (AT).)<\/p>\n

2. Remove the flywheel (MT) or drive plate (AT). (See CLUTCH UNIT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a> (MT).) (See DRIVE PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL]<\/a> (AT).)<\/p>\n

3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.<\/p>\n

4. Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n

Rear Oil Seal Removal Note<\/h4>\n

1. Remove the rear oil seal lip using a utility knife.<\/p>\n

2. Using a screwdriver wrapped in a cloth, remove the rear oil seal being careful not to damage the sealing surface.<\/p>\n

Rear Oil Seal Installation Note<\/h4>\n

1. Apply clean engine oil to the inner surface of a new rear oil seal.<\/p>\n

2. Insert the rear oil seal into the cylinder block by hand.<\/p>\n

3. Tap the oil seal in evenly using the SST<\/b> and a hammer.<\/p>\n
