DTC P050F:00 [EVP CONTROL UNIT]

DTC

P050F:00

Low power brake unit vacuum

DETECTION CONDITION

  • Power brake unit vacuum is 30 kPa {225 mmHg, 8.8 inHg} lower or more than the barometric pressure for a continuous 15 s when the electric vacuum pump is operating.

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Electric vacuum pump power supply voltage decreases

  • Vacuum line malfunction

  • Electric vacuum pump malfunction

  • Electric vacuum pump drive circuit malfunction

  • EVP control unit malfunction

SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Action

1

RECORD SNAPSHOT DATA AND DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING TEST RESULTS TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION

NOTE:

  • Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.

  • Record the snapshot data and DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING TEST RESULTS (fuel system related) on the repair order.

Go to the next step.

2

VERIFY IF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT IS AFFECTED BY OTHER RELATED DTCs OCCURRING

  • Using the M-MDS, perform the EVP control unit DTC inspection.

(See DTC INSPECTION [EVP CONTROL UNIT].)

  • Are following DTCs detected?

    • C101C:00

    • C101C:18

    • C101C:71

    • C101C:72

    • C101C:73

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

(See DTC TABLE [EVP CONTROL UNIT].)

No

Go to the next step.

3

DETERMINE IF EVP CONTROL UNIT POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION

  • Verify the following items with regard to the recorded snap shot data from Step 1.

    • VPS_FBK

    • VPWR

  • Is the snap shot data VPWR value is 8.3—17.4 V when the snap shot data VPS_FBK is On.

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

VPWR PID is above 17.4 V:

  • Go to the next step.

4

DETERMINE WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS PAST OR PRESENT

NOTE:

  • When clearing the DTC, the snap shot data is also cleared at the same time. Snap shot data is recorded if it is not recorded in Step 1.

  • Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the EVP control unit. .

(See CLEARING DTC [EVP CONTROL UNIT].)

  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

  • Disconnect the EVP control unit connector.

  • Access the VS1 and VS2 PIDs using the M-MDS.

  • Access the simulation item VPS_FBK using the M-MDS.

  • Verify PIDs VS 1 and VS2 when the electric vacuum pump was operated for 10 s by simulation item VPS_FBK.

  • Are VS1 and VS2 PIDs 31.5 kPa {236 mmHg, 9.30 inHg}or more?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Go to Step 7.

5

DRIVE VEHICLE THEN VERIFY DTC REPEATABILITY

Yes

Go to Step 7.

No

Go to the next step.

6

DRIVE VEHICLE THEN VERIFY DTC REPEATABILITY BASED ON SERVICE QUESTIONING RESULTS AND SNAP SHOT DATA

  • Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the EVP control unit.

(See CLEARING DTC [EVP CONTROL UNIT].)

  • Drive the vehicle based on the service questions content and snap shot data driving conditions.

  • Using the M-MDS, perform the EVP control unit DTC inspection.

(See DTC INSPECTION [EVP CONTROL UNIT].)

  • Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Go to Step 8.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

Explain to the customer that there are no malfunctions with the vehicle based on the contents of the servicing.

7

INSPECT VACUUM LINE

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the malfunctioning part, then go to Step 9.

8

INSPECT ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the electric vacuum pump, then go to the next step.

(See ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

9

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step1.

If the malfunction recurs, replace the EVP control unit, then go to the next step.

(See EVP CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

Go to the next step.

10

VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT

  • Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

(See DTC TABLE [EVP CONTROL UNIT].)

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.
