DTC U1A4B:97 [BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE]

CAUTION:

  • When replacing a blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH) having any of the following part numbers, it is necessary to replace the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) at the same time to perform the configuration normally.

    • N243-67Y80 A

    • N243-67Y80 B

    • N243-67Y80 C

Description

Radar sensor sensitivity temporarily decreases depending on various external and environmental factors (blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH))

Detection condition

  • Radar sensor sensitivity in blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH) decreases for 5 s or more with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).

Fail-safe

  • Blind spot monitoring (BSM) system is stopped.

Possible cause

  • Rear bumper dirt or foreign material (reflective object) is adhered.

  • Dirt or foreign material (reflective object) on blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH)

  • Concavity and convexity on the surface of the repaired rear bumper

  • Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH) malfunction

INSPECT REAR BUMPER SURFACE

  • Visually inspect the rear bumper surface for the following:

    • Dirt

    • Adhered foreign material (reflective object)

  • Is there any dirt or foreign matter (reflective object) on the surface of the rear bumper?

Yes

Remove dirt or foreign material (reflective object), then go to Step 4.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT AREA AROUND BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (RH)

  • Visually inspect the area around the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH) for the following:

    • Dirt

    • Adhered foreign material (reflective object)

  • Is there any dirt or foreign matter (reflective object) around the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH)?

Yes

Remove dirt or foreign material (reflective object), then go to Step 4.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY REAR BUMPER REPAIR HISTORY

  • Verify if the rear bumper had been repaired or repainted before.

  • Is the repair or repaint of the rear bumper Mazda genuine?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the rear bumper, then go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step 1.

Go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED

  • Are any other DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.
