DRIVER-SIDE LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

2016 – MX-5 – Body and Accessories

DRIVER-SIDE LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2. Install the following parts:

a. Selector lever knob (AT) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

b. Shift lever knob (MT)

c. Shift panel component (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

d. Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

e. Parking brake lever boot panel (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

f. Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

g. Front console panel (See FRONT CONSOLE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

h. Front console component (See FRONT CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

i. Driver-side scuff plate (See SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

j. Driver-side front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

k. Driver-side A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

l. Hood release lever (See HOOD RELEASE LEVER AND RELEASE CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3. Remove the seaming welt.

4. Remove the bolt.

5. Move the driver-side lower panel in the order of arrows (1), (2), and (3) shown in the figure and detach clips A, clip B, the hook and the guide.

6. Disconnect the DLC-2 connector.

7. Disconnect the trunk lid opener switch connector.

8. Remove the wiring harness clip and disconnect the cluster switch connector.

9. Remove the driver-side lower panel.

10. Remove the cluster switch when replacing the driver-side lower panel. (See CLUSTER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

11. Remove the trunk lid opener switch when replacing the driver-side lower panel. (See TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

12. Install in the reverse order of removal.
