ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) SHORT CORD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNING:

  • The temperature of the steering gear (EPS motor) is high just after turning the steering mechanism from lock to lock repeatedly, and it may cause severe burns. Before performing the work, verify that the steering gear has cooled down.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2. Remove the front under cover. (See FRONT UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3. Detach the wiring harness clip and connectors shown in the figure.

4. Detach the wiring harness clips shown in the figure.

5. Remove the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.1. (See MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR NO.1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

6. Remove the following parts as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

a. Resonance chamber No.1

b. Air cleaner cover

c. Air cleaner element

d. Air cleaner case

7. Remove the ground shown in the figure.

8. Detach the wiring harness clips and connectors shown in the figure.

9. Remove the EPS short cord.

10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
