DETECTION CONDITION

  • Torque sensor malfunction is detected

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

INSPECT TORQUE SENSOR

  • Using the M-MDS, perform the PID inspection for torque sensor.

    (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION [EPS CONTROL MODULE].)

    • STR_TRQ_S_M

    • STR_TRQ_S_S

  • Do the PIDs indicate as followings?

    • Steered left: Changes to 0 Nm—positive

    • Steered right: Changes to 0 Nm—negative

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the steering gear and linkage, then go to the next step.

(See STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step1.

If the malfunction recurs, replace the EPS control module, then go to the next step.

(See ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT

  • Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

(See DTC TABLE [EPS CONTROL MODULE].)

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.
