WHEEL HUB, STEERING KNUCKLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

CAUTION:

  • Performing the following procedures could cause an open circuit in the front ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before servicing, disconnect the front ABS wheel-speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.

1. Remove the front ABS wheel-speed sensor and the bracket from the following parts and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing.

  • Wheel hub

  • Steering knuckle

  • Front upper arm

2. Remove the front brake hose bracket from the front upper arm. (See BRAKE HOSE (FRONT) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITH SINGLE PISTON CALIPER].) (See BRAKE HOSE (FRONT) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITH 4-POT OPPOSED PISTON CALIPER].)

3. Remove the front brake caliper component and suspend it in a place out of the way using a cable. (See FRONT BRAKE (DISC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITH SINGLE PISTON CALIPER].) (See FRONT BRAKE (DISC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITH 4-POT OPPOSED PISTON CALIPER].)

4. Remove the front disc plate. (See FRONT BRAKE (DISC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITH SINGLE PISTON CALIPER].) (See FRONT BRAKE (DISC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITH 4-POT OPPOSED PISTON CALIPER].)

5. Disconnect the front stabilizer control link from the front lower arm. (See FRONT STABILIZER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6. Remove in the order shown in the figure.

7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

8. Inspect the front wheel alignment and adjust it if necessary. (See FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT.)

Front Wheel Hub Bolt Removal Note

NOTE:

  • Remove the front wheel hub bolt only if there is any malfunction.

1. Remove the front wheel hub bolt from the wheel hub using a press.

Front Wheel Hub Bolt Installation Note

1. Press in new front wheel hub bolt into the wheel hub using a press.
