BRAKE WARNING LIGHT/ABS WARNING LIGHT/ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP WARNING LIGHT

Purpose/Function

  • If a malfunction is detected in the system with the parking brake released, the brake system/ABS warning light illuminates to notify the driver.

  • The brake system/ABS warning light illuminates during a system malfunction, and the control is as follows:

    • ABS warning light illuminated:

    • ABS control disabled.

ABS warning light and brake system warning light illuminated:

    • ABS and EBD controls disabled.

  • If the following signal malfunction is detected in the electric vacuum pump system, the electric vacuum pump warning light illuminates to notify the driver:

    • Vehicle speed signal

    • Engine speed signal

    • Brake fluid pressure signal

    • DSC system status signal

    • Vacuum sensor 1 signal

    • Vacuum sensor 2 signal

  • The simultaneous illumination of the brake warning light and electric vacuum pump warning light notifies the driver that the power brake unit vaccum may fail and a malfunction might occur.

  • The brake system warning light illuminates when the parking brake is applied,

Construction/Operation

  • The brake system/ABS/electric vacuum pump warning light is built into the instrument cluster.

  • When the DSC system, electric vacuum pump system and CAN lines are functioning normally, the brake system/ABS/electric vacuum pump warning light illuminates when the ignition is switched ON to check for a burned-out bulb, and then turns off after approx. 3 s. At this time, while the parking brake is activated, the brake system warning light remains illuminated, however, it turns off after the parking brake is released.

  • If a malfunction is detected in the DSC system with the parking brake released, the DSC HU/CM sends the brake system/ABS warning lights request signal. When the instrument cluster receives the brake system/ABS warning lights request signal from the DSC HU/CM, the microcomputer turns the transistor on and a ground circuit with the brake system/ABS warning light is established. Therefore, the brake system/ABS warning light illuminates.

  • If a malfunction is detected in the electric vacuum pump system with the parking brake released, the electric vacuum pump CM sends the brake system/electric vacuum pump warning lights request signal. When the instrument cluster receives the brake system/electric vacuum pump warning lights request signal from the electric vacuum pump CM, the microcomputer turns the transistor on and a ground circuit with the brake system/electric vacuum pump warning light is established. Therefore, the brake system/electric vacuum pump warning light illuminates.

Fail-safe

  • Function not equipped.
