AUTO LIGHT-OFF SYSTEM

Outline

  • The auto light-off system turns off the TNS (parking lights) or headlights automatically.

Function

  • The BCM sends each light off request signal to the electrical supply unit (ESU) and the electrical supply unit (ESU) turns each light off.

  • The BCM controls the auto light-off system based on the following signals.

Signal name

Sending module/part name

Communication method

TNS (parking lights) signal/Headlight signal

Start stop unit

HS-CAN

Ignition switch position signal

Instrument cluster

Auto light off timer function
  • The BCM operates the auto light off timer at the point in time the following conditions occur:

    • Ignition is switched ACC or off with light switch in TNS (parking lights) position

    • Ignition is switched ACC or off with light switch in HEAD position

Personalization features
  • The auto light off timer setting for the auto light-off system can be changed (initial setting is 30 s). For details on the personalization features, refer to the [LIGHTING SYSTEM PERSONALIZATION]. (See LIGHTING SYSTEM PERSONALIZATION.)

Operation

1. When the BCM receives a TNS (parking lights) or headlight signal from the start stop unit with the ignition switched ACC or off, the TNS (parking lights) or headlights are turned on and counting of the illumination time begins.

2. When the pre-set time has passed, the BCM sends each light off request signal to the electrical supply unit (ESU) and the electrical supply unit (ESU) turns each light off.

NOTE:

  • When the BCM detects the change in the headlight signal from the TNS (parking lights) signal or the TNS (parking lights) signal from the headlight signal during counting of the illumination time, the count is reset and counting is restarted.

  • The FLASH-TO-PASS function operates independently regardless of whether it is during or after the illumination time counting.

  • If the TNS (parking lights) are turned on by the leaving home light system, the BCM does not start an illumination time count.
