AIR BAG/SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]

Purpose

  • The air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light notifies the driver of a malfunction in the air bag system.

Function

  • The air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light displays DTCs by the flashing/being illuminated.

  • The air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light flashes/turns on in the pattern shown in the figure.

  • If there are several malfunctions in the air bag system, the DTC of the highest priority ranking is displayed first. For details on DTCs, refer to [ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]]. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

Construction

  • The air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light is built into the instrument cluster.

  • For vehicles with center display, a warning message in the center display is displayed when the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light is turned on or flashing. For the message content and verification method, refer to the [CENTER DISPLAY [WITH CENTER DISPLAY]]. (See CENTER DISPLAY [WITH CENTER DISPLAY].)

Operation

1. When the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), the instrument cluster receives (1) the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light request signal from the SAS control module.

2. The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (2) intermittently for flashing and continuously for illumination based on the signal.

3. When the transistor is turned on intermittently, the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light flashes (3), and when it is turned on continuously, the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light turns on (3).
