OCCUPANCY SENSOR

Purpose, Function

• The occupancy sensor detects weight on the seat area of the passenger’s seat cushion.

Construction

• The occupancy sensor is integrated with the passenger’s seat cushion.

• The occupancy sensor includes 5 pressure sensors.

Operation

1. When an occupant sits (1) on the passenger’s seat, the pressure sensor turns on (contact point: Closed) (2).

2. When the pressure sensor turns on, a ground circuit is established (3).

3. When a ground circuit is established, the SAS control module detects (4) an occupant on the passenger’s seat.

NOTE:

• Among the eight pressure sensors, if one or more of sensors A and B are on (contact point: Closed), the SAS control module detects an occupant on the front passenger’s seat.
