MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]

Purpose

  • Detects the intake airflow amount introduced into the cylinder as basic information for mainly determining the fuel injection amount.

Function

  • Detects the intake airflow amount introduced into the cylinders and sends an intake airflow amount signal to the PCM.

    MAF sensor characteristic

Construction

  • The MAF sensor is located on the air cleaner.

  • A hot film has been adopted to the detection area of the MAF sensor.

  • Electrical current flows so that the temperature at the detection area is kept constant. When the intake airflow amount increases, heat is drawn from the detection area and the temperature decreases. The amount of electric current is increased to keep the temperature at the detection area constant, and the voltage according to the current is sent.

  • The MAF sensor is integrated with the IAT sensor No.1.

Operation

1. The MAF sensor detects (1) the intake airflow amount.

2. The intake airflow amount is detected and the sensor sends (2) an intake airflow amount signal to the PCM.

Fail-safe

DTC No.

Fail-safe function

P0102:00

  • Restricts the upper limit of the engine speed.

  • Inhibits the evaporative purge control.

P0103:00

  • Restricts the upper limit of the engine speed.

  • Inhibits the evaporative purge control.
