MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]

Purpose

  • Detects the intake air pressure introduced into the cylinder as basic information for mainly determining the fuel injection amount.

Function

  • Detects the intake air pressure introduced into the cylinder and sends it to the PCM as an intake air pressure signal.

    MAP sensor characteristic

Construction

  • The MAP sensor is located on the intake manifold.

  • A piezoresistance has been adopted for the detecting area of the MAP sensor.

  • When pressure is applied, the thin film bends and the resistance value of the piezoresistance changes. Using this characteristic, the sensor detects the changes in the voltage value supplied to the detection area.

  • The MAP sensor is integrated with the IAT sensor No. 2.

Operation

1. The MAP sensor detects (1) the intake air pressure.

2. The sensor sends (2) the detected intake air pressure to the PCM as an intake air pressure signal.

Fail-safe

DTC No.

Fail-safe function

P0107:00

  • Estimates MAP using MAF sensor and engine speed.

  • Restricts the upper limit of the engine speed.

  • Inhibits the evaporative purge control.

P0108:00

  • Estimates MAP using MAF sensor and engine speed.

  • Restricts the upper limit of the engine speed.

  • Inhibits the evaporative purge control.
