2016 – MX-5 – Body and Accessories

REAR TURN LIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2. Remove the trunk end trim. (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3. Partially peel back the trunk side trim. (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4. Remove the screw.

5. Remove the nut.

CAUTION:

  • When removing the rear combination light from the body, it could interfere with the body and cause scratching or damage to the body. When removing the rear combination light from the body, apply protective tape to the body.

6. To prevent scratches or damage, affix protective tape to the position shown in the figure.

7. Pull the rear combination light in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and pull out the pin and hook from the body.

8. Turn the socket counterclockwise and remove it in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.

CAUTION:

  • If there is oil or dirt on the surface of the light bulb, excessive heat will build up and the life of the light bulb will be shortened. If the light bulb glass area is touched, wipe off any dirt using a soft cloth dampened with detergent diluted in water (approx. 5 %).

9. Remove the rear turn light bulb.

10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
