Piston Disassembly Note

WARNING:

  • When compressed air is blown into the caliper body, injury to a finger or other part from pinching could result from the piston springing up. When blowing in compressed air, do not place your fingers between the piston and caliper body when performing the work.

CAUTION:

  • The piston could be damaged if blown out with great force. Blow the compressed air slowly to prevent the piston from suddenly popping out.

1. Insert a piece of wood between the projections in the caliper body as shown in the figure.

2. Blow compressed air through the brake hose installation hole to remove the pistons from the caliper body.

NOTE:

  • After all of the pistons have been pressed out uniformly as shown in the figure, remove the piece of wood, and then remove each piston one by one.

Dust Seal Disassembly Note

1. Pull the dust seals straight in the direction of the arrows shown in the figure and remove them from the caliper body.

CAUTION:

  • When removing the dust seals, pull them straight. If the dust seals are pulled at an angle, the outer circumference of the dust seals could be damaged making the removal difficult.
